Neck pain can cause stiffness, headaches and difficulty with everyday activities.
Treatments for cervical spine pain
At Algarve Pain Centre in Vale do Lobo, Algarve, we offer a comprehensive range of evidence-based treatments for cervical spine pain. Our multidisciplinary team of pain medicine physicians, spine surgeons, rehabilitation specialists and psychologists works together so that your plan is built from multiple expert perspectives, not just one.
Whether your pain is recent or long‑standing, we focus on understanding how it affects your daily life and long‑term goals. This helps us decide when simple measures are enough and when more advanced interventions are needed.
Cervical spine pain overview
Cervical spine pain (neck pain) is often linked to joints, muscles, discs or nerves. Symptoms can include stiffness, reduced range of motion, headache, and pain that may travel into the shoulder blade or arm.
During your first consultation we focus on the pattern of symptoms—what triggers flare-ups, what eases them, and whether there are any nerve-related features such as tingling or weakness. This helps guide the next step, from simple measures to more targeted investigations or interventions.
Treatment plans frequently combine education, movement and strengthening, posture strategies, and—when appropriate—image-guided procedures to reduce pain and support rehabilitation.

Cervical facet joints (FJs) constitute a common source of pain and remain a misunderstood, misdiagnosed and improperly treated pathology. Facet osteoarthritis is the most frequent form of facet pathology.
Whiplash‑associated disorders (WAD) can follow acceleration–deceleration injury (for example, a rear‑end collision). Symptoms may include neck pain and stiffness, headache, and sensitivity with movement.
