Shoulder pain
Shoulder pain can make simple tasks like dressing or reaching overhead feel difficult.
Treatments for shoulder pain
At Algarve Pain Centre in Vale do Lobo, Algarve, we offer a comprehensive range of evidence-based treatments for shoulder pain. Our multidisciplinary team of pain medicine physicians, spine surgeons, rehabilitation specialists and psychologists works together so that your plan is built from multiple expert perspectives, not just one.
Whether your pain is recent or long‑standing, we focus on understanding how it affects your daily life and long‑term goals. This helps us decide when simple measures are enough and when more advanced interventions are needed.
Shoulder pain overview
Shoulder pain can arise from the rotator cuff, bursa, joint irritation, tendon overload, or stiffness. It often affects reaching, dressing, lifting and sleep.
We look at when the pain occurs (overhead movement, behind-the-back reach, lying on the shoulder) and whether weakness or reduced range of motion is present. This helps clarify whether rehabilitation, injections or other targeted treatments may help.
Treatment commonly combines guided exercise, load management, and—when indicated—image-guided procedures to reduce pain so rehabilitation can progress.
